In the last century the Korsun battlefields have witnessed two battles. At
time of revolution, the army of Ukrainian anarchists chased down and
killed a red army troop on this field.
Exploring at a place of two battles is doubly interesting.
The anarchists on the photo, they kept in terror all this region.
Graves beside a road tell us that last time the anarchists visited this town was in 1922.

Let's return to digging on the hills. Of all explosives most dangerous those shells that were fired through a tank or artillery barrel and didn't expload. They can be recognized by rifling marks on the projectile. The same about mortar mines, most of which were armed for detonation at the moment of being shot from a mortar, so whenever one is found with a fuse and used (shot through) percussion cap, one is armed and ready to expload. Sappers calling such explosives- anti-fascists and there are lot of them. On factories in Germany the anti-fascists were deliberately produced defective stuff, in a Soviet Union a planned economy.
This is machine gun, one from family of german MG mashine guns. Machine guns not my favourite, they belong to relics that is hard to carry but sorry to leave. A fully assembled machine gun can weight 1/3 of my own weight, but they seldom found fully assembled. Usually, when army was retreating, in order not to leave a working ammunition to enemy soldiers were taking them apart and bury some parts in trenches or drowning them in river.
For someone who want to assemble it, it won't be hard to find all missing parts.
Here some parts from MG machine guns; sight for targeting war-planes, big box for cartridges and barrel for MG-42. Barrels our usuall finds, they were overheat in a battle, deformed and thrown away. This one is brand new barrel, just a slightly rusted.
On last photo is box for cartridges for MG-34 machine gun. I brought it from Korsun, where it was found it in clay. It is completely functional, painted in tropic yellow. At the beginning of war, ammunition painted in this color was dedicated for troops in Africa, but later they also began to supply troops in Europe with a troppic yellow ammunition, may be the part of a reason is because things start getting hot in Europe.
